Michael Jackson in London to sell Beatles?

Michael Jackson

16 March 2007 - Michael Jackson, 48, jetted into London yesterday with sons Prince, 10, and Paris Michael, nine, reports Daily Mail.

The King of Pop is believed to be in town to negotiate sale of a part of his Beatles catalog to Sir Paul McCartney.

Jackson had outbid Sir Paul McCartney and John Lennon's widow, Yoko Ono, to buy the songs for £24million in 1985. The purchase gave him control over the Fab Four's repertoire and hits by artists such as Bob Dylan and Neil Diamond.

Jackson's rights to the music, which he co-owns with Sony, are valued at between 250 million pounds and 400 million pounds.

Jackson is being forced to sell off part of his catalog in a bid to stave off bankruptcy.

In the past, Sir Paul has evinced interest in acquiring the Fab Four's repertoire so a deal could be in the offing.

Michael Douglas dreams of killing Zeta-Jones in a movie!

Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones

London, Mar 13: Michael Douglas wants to kill wife Catherine Zeta-Jones, but only on-screen.

The veteran actor revealed that he would love to play the villain in a movie which saw Zeta-Jones playing the heroine, and get the chance to kill either her, or the actor who plays the hero.

As for why he wants to play the villain and not the hero, well that’s because he feels that audiences don’t want to see a young actress paired with an older actor.

"I'd be the villain, because nobody likes older guys with younger women. So we'll get her a young leading man and I'll be the bad guy. And I'll 'off' one of them," the Mirror quoted him, as saying.

The 62-year old star also insisted that he and Zeta-Jones would never have an on-screen love scene, because it was not audiences wanted to see.

"As far as doing a romance in a film for a married couple, audiences seem to lack the excitement, knowing in the back of their mind these people are together all the time," he said.

Douglas and Zeta-Jones married on November 18, 2000, shortly after he and his first wife Diandra Luker were divorced.

MICHAEL JACKSON MAY LOSE BEATLES SONGS TO PAY OFF $250 MILLION DEBT

Michael Jackson Could Lose Face Over Beatles Songs

Michael Jackson is set to lose his Beatles' songs. The singer, who infuriated Sir Paul McCartney when he out bid him for the rights to the group's music 22 years ago, is being forced to sell the songs after running up huge debts. Jackson has allegedly squandered his fortune on a lavish lifestyle. He also took out steep loans to fight recent child abuse charges. In 1995, he was forced to sell part ownership of the catalogue, valued at over a billion, to his former record company Sony and used his remaning share as security for loans. The deal with Sony stipulated that if he was unable to pay the loans back he would have be required to sell the company the remainder of the catalogue by May 31 2008. Fox News entertainment columnist Roger Friedman said: "The deal is not a lot for a celebrity who likes to travel, stay in expensive hotels and shut down toy stores for private shopping."It is believed Sony will charge Jackson $250 million for the expenses they have incurred. Jackson hopes to repay $250 million to a loans company once the sale is completed. Meanwhile, it has been reported Jackson's reunion with the Jackson Five could earn him $500. million. The group - who last regularly performed together 23 years ago - are set to earn a fortune from playing 250 Las Vegas concerts over three years. A world tour, a greatest hits album, two new songs, merchandise and product endorsements have also been discussed. The band - comprising of Tito, Marlon, Jackie, Michael and Jermaine - are currently in talks with producer Jack Wishna, who was responsible for Celine Dion's live residency in Caesar's Palace.

Michael Jackson 'Wouldn't Change' Career

Amid a lavish party filled with fans, impersonators, orphans and handicapped children, Michael Jackson said Thursday that he wouldn't change the path of his career, despite 'deliberate attempts to hurt me.'

The reclusive pop star, in Tokyo for several 'fan appreciation events,' was the guest of honor at a party where about 400 people paid $3,500 each for a buffet dinner, a show featuring several Japanese Jackson impersonators and a chance to take photos with Jackson. More than 100 orphans and handicapped children were invited for free.

Wearing sunglasses and dressed in a black-and-gold Roberto Cavalli suit, Jackson appeared on the stage at the end of the six-hour party to read a brief thank you.

He did not perform. But in comments to The Associated Press, Jackson reflected on his career, which he is trying to revive after his 2005 acquittal on child molestation charges and a series of other legal battles over his personal finances.

'I've been in the entertainment industry since I was 6 years old,' he told AP. 'As Charles Dickens says, `It's been the best of times, the worst of times.' But I would not change my career.'

Jackson, 48, appeared relaxed and comfortable back in front of his fans. He said he was not bitter over his succession of difficulties.

'While some have made deliberate attempts to hurt me, I take it in stride because I have a loving family, a strong faith and wonderful friends and fans who have, and continue, to support me,' he said.

Those fans have been out in force since Jackson's arrival in Tokyo on Sunday.

A screaming mob greeted him at the airport, and organizers said tickets to the two main events _ Thursday's VIP party and another, larger party directed at his main fan base on Friday _ sold briskly. Jackson was also scheduled to tour a U.S. Army base just south of Tokyo on Saturday.

Jackson, one of the best-selling artists of all time, has lived abroad since his acquittal, forsaking his Neverland Ranch in California for Bahrain, France and a castle in Ireland.

But in a telephone conversation from Las Vegas with the Associated Press in January, he said he had returned to the United States and planned to stay there for the time being.

Even so, Japan continues to be his home away from home. This is Jackson's second trip to Tokyo in less than a year.

'Japan is one of my favorite places to visit in the world,' Jackson told the crowd Thursday, reading from a statement. 'I want to thank all of you for making me the biggest-selling artist in Japan.'

Some of the paying customers Thursday said the tickets were a bit too steep. 'It is expensive,' said Yoko Iizuka, a copywriter who works in Tokyo. 'But I've loved his music since I was a kid.'

Others were eager to fork over the 400,000 yen.

'You can't put a price tag on this,' said Jenny Sasaki, who arrived in a fur coat and sequined gown. 'I love Michael Jackson, his music, his sensitivity and his humanity.'
