Maggie Gyllenhaal will most likely be the woman stepping into Katie Holmes’ shoes as Batman’s lady love.
The Golden Globe nominated actress is in final talks to replace Holmes as Rachel Dawes in the ‘Batman Begins’ sequel.
Director Christopher Nolan revealed that he was extremely happy that Gyllenhaal was coming on board, and that he was looking forward to working with her.
“I’m extremely excited to work with an actress of Maggie’s calibre, and she’s a great addition to the cast,” Contactmusic quoted him, as telling The Hollywood Reporter.
Shooting for the sequel is scheduled to start in spring this year, with actor Christian Bale returning once again as the caped crusader.
The film is scheduled to hit theatres in 2008.
Holmes’ publicist had earlier revealed that that “scheduling conflicts” were the reason why the actress would not be reprising her role in the successful flick.
The actress opted to join Queen Latifah in Mad Money, a project being financed by Nu Millennium and Granada instead.
