12 March 2007 - Rapper Snoop Dogg was detained and investigated on suspicion of using illegal narcotics by Swedish police overnight Monday. He was released after questioning and drug tests.
The police stopped his car around 1:30 a.m. (1230 GMT), while he was headed to a party, following a concert in Stockholm's Globe Arena during which he performed with P. Diddy, reports AP.
According to Matts Brannlund, of the Stockholm police, Snoop Dogg and a female companion showed signs of drug use.
"He was deemed to be under the influence of narcotics," Brannlund said.
A small amount of narcotics was recovered from his car. However, Brannlund could not specify the type of narcotic and wasn't sure it belonged to Snoop Dogg.
The rapper was taken to a Police station and administered tests before being released after 5 a.m. (0400 GMT).
"He underwent some tests that will now be sent away for analysis," Brannlund said. "In two to three weeks, we'll know if he was on something."
If the tests come back positive, Snoop Dogg faces fines in conformity with Sweden’s tough narcotics laws.
