Jennifer Hudson gets some flak for being ungrateful

Jennifer Hudson arrives at the 79th Annual Academy Awards at the Kodak Theatre, Hollywood, California (February 25, 2007).

13 March 2007 - Jennifer Hudson, 25 is coming under some serious flak for letting success go to her head.

The Dreamgirls singer recently raised hackles when she backed out of performing at the taping of the Soul Train Awards show in Los Angeles Saturday, reports Page Six.

During the awards that will be telecast later this month Hudson was presented the Sammy Davis Jr. Award for Entertainer of the Year.

"Jennifer called Friday and said she couldn't make it," a source told Page Six.

"Soul Train" producer Don Cornelius acted quickly and knew the right button to push. He called Clive Davis, the legendary J Records mogul, who is Jennifer's de facto boss.

"Clive called Jennifer and read her the riot act. He said, 'Get you're ass out to L.A.' and then hung up on her," the source adds.

Clive, who has in the past charted the careers of Whitney Houston, Alicia Keyes and dozens of other artists, got Jennifer to show up.

On another front, Jennifer's first employers, Burger King, have taken up cudgels against the Oscar winner after she mentioned them in her feud with American Idol judge Simon Cowell.

Countering Cowell's contention that despite her rejection on American Idol 2004 she should be grateful to the show for having given her exposure Jennifer snapped, "If I'd been any better at my job when I was at Burger King in my middle teens, I wouldn't be here either, so should I thank them, too?"

Miffed, the trans fat Mecca has released a facetious statement saying, "In response to Jennifer's recent comments in which she asked if she should be thanking Burger King, we say thanks, but no thanks are necessary. Burger King Corporation is proud of Jennifer's success and while we never like to lose employees, in this case, our loss is the entertainment industry's gain. To further show our support for Jennifer, and make sure she never has to sing for her supper again, Burger King Corporation is giving her a pre-paid BK Crown Card that will be automatically reloaded for life."

Jennifer worked at a Chicago Burger King when she was 16 and claims she sang while working on the drive-through counter and flipping burgers.
